Our goldsmiths resize hundreds of rings each year. Because of that they are highly practiced in sizing most rings, a typical ring can be resized within a day or two of receiving it.

What is a ring resizing?

A ring resizing is simply the process of changing the circumference of a ring. This is neccissary if you have gained or lost weight, and is important to help ensure that the ring securly and comfortably fits.

How should a ring fit?

A ring should be easy to get on the finger and then slightly more difficult to get off. There should be resistance when you try and take the ring off, however it should not hurt to take on and off.

If you believe that your ring might need to be resized, it is often best to wait a few days to make sure it is a consistant feeling. Sometimes things temporary things such as changes in temperature or how much fliuds you have drank can impact the swelling in your fingers.

Can rings with diamonds be resized?

Rings such as engagment rings and wedding bands often have diamonds or other precious stones. These rings often can be resized just like any other ring, however careful considerations have to be made by the goldsmith. Depending on how the diamonds are set and how far down the shank they go, the goldsmith might have to encorporate different techniques to ensure that the structural integrity of the ring is not impacted.
